Funds to Bring Holiday Magic to the Children, Youth, and Families they Serve
The numbers are in. Tim Hortons’ inaugural Holiday Smile Cookie campaign in November was a huge success in the City of Welland. An astounding $33,536.26 was raised to support FACS Niagara and Tim Hortons Foundation Camps. This means that over 22,300 cookies were sold.
“We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who purchased a Holiday Smile Cookie during this holiday season,” says Brett Sweeney, Director of Communications and Community Engagement. “The holidays can be a difficult time for the children, youth, and families we serve, so we are pleased to be able to provide support and bring holiday magic to them this season. Thank you to the Welland Tim Hortons store owners, team members, and volunteers who helped to make this initiative so impactful.”
The funds received from the Holiday Smile Cookies has helped to purchase gifts, toys, food, and necessities for the children served by FACS Niagara. It has also gone towards FACS Niagara’s Home for the Holidays which are events that provide a space for youth to come together and enjoy an evening of gifts and camaraderie with people who care about them.
“I was a single mom – I raised my kids for seven years by myself,” says a youth served by FACS Niagara. “Having the family I do here at FACS is so important to us.”
A cheque presentation was held on Nov. 5 at FACS Niagara’s St. Catharines office location, where FACS Niagara received just over $16,765 from the Holiday Smile Cookie campaign.
